I’ve put all this work together under the general heading of ‘Experiments’ as I couldn’t think of a better title for this section, these paintings hopefully show something of the progression in my work from early experiments in spatial awareness explored while at art college many years ago, through to the more recent experiments in trying to combine the more abstract spatial elements with my portrait work to create something if not new then maybe with a bit more ‘Depth’ to the paintings.

I’ve arranged these pictures in chronological order starting with self portrait 1983 in the top left corner and progressing left to right up to the present day at the bottom.

If some of the early paintings seem a little dark in mood its because an ex girlfriend who I was still very close to died at the time and this was obviously reflected in my work at the time (BTW most of my paintings from this period have long since been lost during moves from one residence to another).

Unfortunately when I left Art College I abandoned the experimental work as I was too busy trying to make a living, and to be honest I became disilusioned with my career as a painter at the time.
